The current paradigm for space exploration is to build a custom robot for every mission, costing billions of dollars and taking years to complete. We can do better, we can create robot platforms suitable for many missions, to explore, to build and to create a sustained presence in the new frontiers.

Software that operates in space isn’t just regular software. If your system crashes you can’t just reboot it, and what about those radiation particles? What about communications with high latency and low bandwidth? What about navigation without GPS?
